Ally recently partnered with a major global protein producer to construct an onsite power generation plant at their Plainwell, Michigan facility. The plant utilizes biogas produced onsite and upgraded generators that provide a 90% reduction of key pollutants to ensure the plant complies with Michigan carbon monoxide (CO) atmospheric release regulations.
Benefits of Utilizing Biogas
Monetizing Biogas. Upgraded biogas will be worth more than the natural gas commodity price.
Biogas Plant OPEX Support. The project will be fully supported by Ally RNG. Labor, accounting, and oversight will be included in post-construction operational support.
Lower Plant OPEX Costs for Boiler Maintenance. Burning natural gas is less corrosive than biogas. Elimination of fuel switching will reduce associated labor costs.
Reduction of Plant OPEX at the Biogas Blower Building. The new system includes management of existing blowers when sending gas to the upgrading facility.
Improve Cover Management. The new system will upgrade gas as produced thereby maintaining minimum gas volumes under existing covers.
Wastewater Treatment Practices. The system will not affect digestion, the downstream water processing, nor will it add new waste streams.
Improve Biogas Measurement and Reporting. The system will improve visibility and provide real-time awareness of biogas production.
Improve Air Quality. Upgrading biogas will lower emissions thereby impacting plant-level emissions estimates.
CAPEX Neutral to the Plant. Ally RNG has many funding options that could include fully funding the CAPEX portion of the project.
Potential to capture and upgrade the CO2. We think based on potential production of plant needs.
