Global Ground Support
Members of Ally’s Operational Technology Group Help National Leader in Plane De-icing to Design and Implement Low-Cost, Web-Based Vehicle Telemetry System
Project Details
Global Ground Support manufactures plane de-icing trucks operating in 33 countries and holds exclusive contracts with the United States Navy and United States Air Force. The company was looking for a cloud-based telemetry system that could access, process, and synchronize data from individual truck terminals to track operations in real-time and measure how much de-icing fluid operators used.
Solution
Ally’s Operational Technology Group members collaborated with Inductive Automation to design a customized, web-based telemetry system to track, organize, and store information regarding each of the 1,700 de-icing trucks in service across Global Ground Support’s entire client base.
Conclusion
The MIDAS system, accessible by any authorized Internet-connected device, allows analysts to review real-time information from any de-icing truck worldwide. This insight helps Global Ground Support improve efficiency and driver accountability while reducing the carbon footprint associated with the overuse of de-icing fluid.
“I very quickly learned that not only were we going to be able to meet the basic requirements of the system that I was hoping to develop and expected in order to be successful, but we were going to be able to exceed them.”
